FAQ

Should the toner or ink cartridge be removed before the printer is donated?

No, it is not necessary. The cartridge can remain in the printer and it is safe if it stays in the printer.  If you have a lot of spent cartridges, please see the next question below.

What is the best way to recycle used toner or ink cartridges?

You can earn rewards at Office Depot when you recycle your ink or toner cartridges. With their broader store locations and the ability to earn rewards, this is the best recycling solution for you.  You can also recycle at other office supply stores as well and there are mail-in programs that will pay you for your old cartridges.

The toner cartridge ink has leaked out, what should I do?

Please protect yourself first by safely putting the cartridge into a sealed bag. The fine powder that some of these cartridges contain is hazardous when you breathe it in.  Then take to one of the places mentioned above.

Do you accept large office printers or copiers?

Yes, we will recycle your large office printer or copier. If you have ten or more electronic items to recycle, we offer a free pickup service. With a large office printer or copier, using our pickup service might be easier for you.

Do I need to remove the hard drive in the printer or copier?

No, it isn’t necessary. It is part of our normal operations to ensure that we protect your data. Most people aren’t aware that some printers or copiers have a hard drive in them. Thus, we will remove the hard drive and destroy the data on your behalf.
